About the Toys and Toy Parts

Many of the parts and toys are natural and handmade. This is for the safety of your Birds, but this also means that there will be variations in color, size, or other physical attributes between them. Please do not expect all toys and parts of the same type to be exact clones.

Toy Part and Toy Safety

As a reminder, whenever you give a bird a toy or create a new toy, consideration must be given to safety always for your bird.  Given the breadth of available toy parts and the range of possible toy creations from talented individuals, you (as in the consumer or customer) must take full responsibility for ensuring that you have provided the best, safest possible environment for your bird(s). If you believe something is not safe, then do not use or purchase that item, but rather purchase something else you do believe is safe. While not all encompassing, The Parrot Asylum™ can recommend the following basic safety tips to consider when purchasing toys and toy parts:

1. Any toy or toy part is potentially dangerous. You should always supervise your birds – especially if the toy you are giving them is new.

2. Make sure all types of rope and sisal are kept shortened as parts are chewed off to prevent it from becoming a noose.

3. Parrots should be watched when playing or interacting with plastic parts to make sure the parts are not being chewed and then swallowed.

4. Links in metal chains should be small or large enough to prevent toes and nails from becoming caught.

5. Plastic rings should be sized large or small enough so that not only will their heads not become stuck, but their bodies as well.

6. O-Rings should be closed tight enough so that your bird cannot get it's tongue, toes, nails, etc caught between the two ends.

7. Some parts and toys are simply not made for a specific type of bird. For instance, a toy made for smaller birds can be more readily disassembled or broken by larger birds who then may ingest these parts causing a medical emergency.

**NOTE**
If your bird is in distress or has a potential medical issue/emergency, please seek appropriate professional veterinary help immediately.

Prices

The Parrot Asylum™ is committed to giving our customers the lowest possible pricing available. As such, the current Web site design does not incorporate a great deal of „e-convenience“. There is no shopping cart that is automatically tied into PayPal™ or other e-commerce businesses as these tie-ins would increase the overall cost for toys and toy parts. Each vendor has specific transaction costs entailed with providing e-commerce capabilities and these transaction costs can become quite hefty depending on what your offering . There may yet come a time when „e-convenience“ does become a part of The Parrot Asylum™, in part or full, but when that does occur, we want to ensure that costs associated with this convenience does not arbitrarily increase the consumer's cost.
Since The Parrot Asylum™ is already offering its toys and toy parts at their lowest conceivable price. As such, we do not offer wholesale prices nor discounts of any type so please do not ask for discounts or our wholesale prices.
While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of prices, accidents and typos do occur. Final pricing is determined at The Parrot Asylum™ headquarters in West Virginia and any difference in pricing must be resolved prior to shipment to the customer.
