SS Skewers

We are very pleased to be able to offer Expandable Habitat Toy Hangers, Swings, and Skewers. These are made from 3/16" thick stainless steel with a 1 3/4" acrylic ball making them not only refillable but they will last for years and are known to stand up to even the toughest macaws and cockatoos. Can be attached to the cage two ways - by adding a quicklink to the end with the loop which works well with playtop cages or by putting the threaded end through the cage bars from the inside and screwing the ball on tightly from the outside of the cage. Using this second method, as the bird turns the hanger the ball turns with it keeping it from unscrewing. This also allows the bird to rotate the toy so that he can reach all the parts. To clean use a mild soap and rinse with warm water.

We would also like to mention that these work great for handicapped birds who have trouble holding onto toys. Because of the stiff rod they are easier for the bird to chew parts from than those that are strung on ropes or chain. We don't normally recommend other sites but because it is so important to keep birds busy with toys and since it's even harder with a physically handicapped bird we would like to mention a couple of alternative skewer sources whose skewers might be easier for a challenged bird to grasp. Mother Pluckin Bird Toys and Grey Feather Toys both have some nice quality corkscrew type skewers that might allow the parts to stick out better along the curves for easier access. Keep in mind that wider toy parts do not slide around the curves as easy as narrow parts do nor will some slide down as parts below it are chewed away (at times that can be blessing or hindrence).
